    Artist description
Floodplain originated sometime between 1999 and 2001, depending how you look at it. Its forefathers, Jim Neist Jr. and Kenny Zabler, were part of a different band. When "creative differences" took care of Phase 2/Ironic Charm/ (whatever the hell they were called) Jim and Kenny looked elsewhere for something new, something different, something original. After weeks of searching impatiently for the right fit, 2 new members were sworn into the brotherhood of peace, love, and rock and roll.well, without the love part. Primarily rock-influenced drummer Tony Sibley, who played in 8th grade jazz band with Kenny, was picked up off the mean streets of New Berlin. The two one-time Frank Lloyd Wright Middle School jazz legends met in a chance encounter at Cascio Interstate Music. After weeks of pouting over the fact that good bassists are hard to find, the trio met its match with the mother-of-all-funkers, Andy Kettlewell. The blues/rock style the band was looking for suddenly was transformed into a fusion of blues, rock, funk, classic rock, instrumental, jazz, and hard rock. The band got together and immediately kicked major ass. With only 2 full practices under their belts, the soon-to-be-named band started its 2-day tour including gigs in The Hole and the Delafield Brewhaus. After weeks of searching for a name to fit such an ass-kicking musical machine, the band held an opinion poll and agreed on the name Floodplain.
