Artist description
When Dayna Blitz takes the stage you do not realize the trip you are about to be taken on. Pint sized, but with the vocal strength of a Mack truck, Blitz has a unique and soulful voice that makes heads turn. Her stage presence takes on the vibe of such greats as Mick Jagger and Iggy Pop thus displaying a truly undeniable explosion of energy that cannot be ignored.
After a successful past in acting, Blitz started writing tunes in the mid 90's while creating and fronting a band in NYC called M39. After a great five year stint, M39 peacefully parted ways and Blitz was left to plot her next move... the debut of her solo EP, 'Can't Go Back'.
With the release of her critically acclaimed EP, a new band and having been chosen one of the top ten up and coming artists of 2002 at Femme Music, you can find her all over the internet and on the East Coast in the club/college scenes near you. |

Press Reviews
"Can't Go Back" has musicial styles ranging from pop, bluesy-rock, a bit of jazz, to alternative/experimental. The title track, Can't Go Back is a finely arranged pop song, the obvious choice as a first cut. Being more along the lines of mainstream, this is a safe song with mega appeal. The feel is even-toned, not a lot of changes or extremes going on. The music stays in the background to let Dayna Blitz's pretty voice lead the way, bringing in the hints of rock that shine through to give that extra push. Blitz takes on front and center, and a contagious chorus is the perfect topping.
On the second track, Time Will Fly, the music starts out with crisp percussion and a sassy harmonica bringing on a really cool alterna/rock/blues feel. Dayna shows us her vocal power on this one. Her voice, sometimes raspy with the Janis/Melissa Etheridge feel, easily changes to clean and smooth. She sings it ballsy and it fits the music, not pushing too hard, which could sound too harsh with this style. Dayna Blitz breaks on through to the darker, alternative side with So Bored, a song about going to extremes out of boredom. This is my favorite and my style preference for Dayna because she experiments more on it. The music has a cool Kate Bush or Peter Gabriel type of mood. The main drive of the song is the beat, with some musical highlights. Dayna's vocals are sometimes breathy, using her lower range, and very powerful on the choruses which hit right on the mark again. Background whispers and talking add to the song making it even more interesting.
Stick With Me, the last of this 5-song CD is slower, with bare bones music consisting mainly of strumming guitars. The lap steel guitar brings in the magic, and Dayna's breathy voice shows strong emotion. A short though very well arranged closing song.
