Artist description
Angry Hobbit has a decent amount of Dropkick Murphys influence, although deal with somewhat different issues. Our lyrics aren't always the most positive and uplifting. A lot of the lyrics tend to be about our past and about people we grew up with and/or look up to, but there are also some songs are about people that have had a negative effect on us as well. Musically, we've grown as of late. We are focusing on more melodic fun songs to play and just have a good time. Our 2 best songs out right now are "One-Eye the Leprechaun" which has sort of a bluegrass type beat to it, and "Passing", which is a slow song about missing someone who has passed away. |

Artist History
Angry Hobbit started in the fall of 2000. Luke and Ron decided to start a band with all intentions of it being straight up punk with a lot of energy. The first few songs written sounded a lot like Stiff Little Fingers. Things were kept simple (and still are somewhat today) but things are improving. In the beginning, Ron was playing bass and Luke was playing drums. Ron sings but can't sing and play at the same time, so the main focus was to get the music done first. Brian was added on guitars when Ron met him in his spanish class. Ron purchased the computer program Acid(basically it's for a dj to make techno garbage) and an $8 wal-mart microphone and recorded the instruments one by one through the mic and mixed it. It all started out with the bass playing with a computer generated drum mix, and then the drums were recorded. Granted, the quality isn't the best, but it's not bad considering what we are working with. Most of the stuff is what Ron wrote and recorded while at home, because he has no life and all he does is study, write novels. Not to mention that he owns the program, can sit at his house, and record whenever he feels like it. Luke has played mandolin and fiddle since he was 4 years old and as of late, he started to record some songs with those instruments as well. This is when the focus turns more towards folk punk. George bumped into the fine boys of Angry Hobbit one day and mentioned he played bass. Once again a different route was taken from the band and Ron decided to focus on vocals only...... Update, October- 2002: AH is down to just George and Ron, and we're looking to recruit some band members. Ron has about 15 songs that need finished at this point, and hopefully will have recruited people to help him finish them by Christmas. We want to start playing gigs as well, so we'll see what happens... |
