Press Reviews
From the stylized graphic artwork, to the minor chord melodic creepiness, Wrath of Killenstein is commended for their focus with all the intricate details. They have created a hybrid of music that is essentially a cross between Rammstein, Type O Negative and Rob Zombie that is rather entertaining and imaginative. The inclusion of dark, sinister tones, similar to the more morose gothic fare, inherently enhanced the music and avoided the same monotony many other bands have been prone to creating when delving within this genre. The nine songs embodied on the disc are an excursion through anger, angst, demonism and seduction. Although this reviewer usually eschews musical entertainment dealing with "demonic" elements, periodically a band comes along that has the capability of crossing a genre line to pull the listener in with intriguing and captivating fare. The opening track "Viva Le Creep," with its funereal style organ, grabs the ear and the immediate attention of the listener. The following tracks are heavier devil-metal with the episodic gloomy segue or chorus. Fans of this style of music are sure to be pleased by this work because of its overall creativity and vitality. Wrath of Killenstein set out to be something different from other bands, yet they were sure not to stray too far from the traditional formula and risk losing any potential fans. Wrath of Killenstein could almost serve as a soundtrack for a phenomenal stage production since all the essential elements of gloom and doom are precariously orchestrated at pivotal points. The obvious painstaking detail that was involved with the graphics and music can only lead one to anticipate a live stage rendition laden with amazing set designs. With the right amount of promotion, this band could withstand the litmus test of lasting metal bands who carve a niche in the dark underground world of music. |
