Press Reviews
Peter Orlov: CMJ New Music Report Issue: 703 - Feb 26, 2001:
Sam Densmore's Silverhawk will stun you like a beautiful new wave pop sunburst. Coming straight outta Coos Bay, Oregon with guitar-bass-drums vignettes that evoke memories of breakups long gone but hardly forgotten, this threesome musically harkens to an early '80s moment when hope remained that post-punk influences could invade mainstream rock. Of course, it was only a mirage - but Wire Train, the Romeo Void and Translator did leave some awesome singles strewn around their corpses. For Silverhawk, those singles are a how-to manual: "Flowers In June" embodying the rhythmic propulsion and chorus perfection, and "Summer Came" flashes the wussy crunch that all new wave popsters wore as a badge. Flowers will stun no one, but it will definitely make some smile. (CMJ)
