Artist History
Mark Dean was born on the range, it wasn't on thankfully and it is disputed if it was an Aga but Mark to this day maintains it was indeed and oil fired bonifide Range, He met Tina when she was selling cinema ticket at the Regal in Kelty she would give him thrupence change on a dozen jam jars and they would go suck their lollies together in the front row and watch the cowboys heros in the matinee, some thought strange behaviour for a couple in their forties but love is strong and its the cowboy way was their inevitable retort to the scoffers. They were destined to be wed, and it was a glitsy affair, they hired the Cowdenbeath Co-operative hall, "for the whole day", and the ceremony took place at the Ockley Corral. (They were hitch to a wagon so to speak )It was that night in the bridle suite of the palace hotel Lumfinans that Mark wearing the aformentioned bridle, found his very own yodel. A seminal moment and destiny would start them down the trail, inevitably to the meeting with Johnny Pod the dark stranger of Tunbridge Wells. Johnny had had a meteoric career as the knife catcher in the top musichall double act "Beryl And The Dark Stranger", they travelled at the highest level astonishing crowds all over east Kent untill a freak but nasty accident with a wayward tomahawk caused a parting of the ways. He still walks with a stoop to this day. But every cloud has a silver lining and the bi-product of the impending operation was that Johnny too had found his yodel. Legend has it that he came round from the anaesthetic singing The Cattle Call, it took 3 second opinions from 5 consultants untill an orderly informed them all that he was not in a deep euphoric spasm but was indeed singing the refrain from Roy Rogers 1949 classic movie. The enevitable conjunction happened at a bingo session at the Sheerness, Grand Old Pensioner where Mark and Tina were booked the put out the cards and provide the between game entertainment. Johnny was the rawhide bingo caller "Whites of their Eye's " 55 "Riding shot gun" number 1" It was the start of a beautiful friendship, well it was the start of a kind of deceptively attractive one at the very least. It was agreed instantly that there would be No Comebacks and indeed it came to be. http://www.medicinemusic.co.uk |
