Artist description My Sixth Shadow are around since ’98 doing a mix of Metal, Gothic and electronic influences. The Band itself is calling it New Wave of Gothic Metal and that fits perfect with the Sound as well as the lyrics of My Sixth Shadow. After some changes in their line-up, they have recorded two Demos; “My Sixth Shadow” in 2001 and “Sacrifice” in 2002. With their second Demo, they were voted Band of the Month on German VIVA Text and also placed several songs on top of the MP3.com Gothic Charts for weeks (and still have them there!). If that doesn’t mean that My Sixth Shadow did their homework…

Artist History November 1998...Italy...Rome. My Sixth Shadow starts to act with the name of "Masquerade" and the following line up: Rob (Vocals), Victor (Guitars) Joseph (Bass) Fet (Drums). At the beginning of 1999 La Nuit (guitars) joins the band. On April of 1999 the band starts recording its first demo cd: a work mostly influenced by dark-wave and heavy-metal. After some gigs Rob left the band. During december 1999 in a jam session in a venue, Victor and Joseph meet Dave, that becomes the new singer. In May, after some months of songwriting, a new work is ready with a different approach in vocals and musical parts. On summer 2000 the first CD is out under a new band name: "My Sixth Shadow". On november of 2000 Dani joins My Sixth Shadow at Keyboards and the line up is completed. After some live performances around, the band finds its definitve shape and starts writing some new songs for a new work: "Sacrifice" (2002), a mini cd of 5 tracks that exactly describes the mood and the style of the band. It's just the consequence of a new inspiration, of a change of direction towards dark and gothic atmospheres, mixed with electro stuff, love-metal lyrics and low B seven strings guitars. What you are going to listen to is really a mix of dark-gothic music with the power of new-post-metal.....Something you could call NEW WAVE OF GOTHIC METAL. Sacrifice package (with a great artwork made by our designer Neon trinity kill) starts to reach the desks of magazines, radios, and webzines, and the result is explosive. A lot of features and top scoring reviews start to come from the most important magazines in europe (KERRANG UK, THE LEGACY, PSYCHO, IMPERIUMI, METAL HAMMER, MP3.COM, TWILIGHT MAGAZINE, VIVA TEXT GERMANY, METAL SHOCK) and the band get features in samplers too! The band is "featured band" 3 times on mp3.com and gets the 1st place in gothic metal charts with "Sacrifice" and "Aeteria". After some time comes the feature as "BAND OF THE WEEK" on VIVA text music television Germany, and then the KKKK scoring and review on Kerrang! UK magazine Issue 930 definitively confirm the potential of the band. Meanwhile the band starts to write new songs and in a few time a new quick demo with 4 tracks of the debut album is out. The promotional mp3s of Shadows in my love and Intoxicate my heart, suddenly hit the gothic metal charts in few day and get the 1st positions. In November 2002 recording sessions of the 12 tracks debut album starts and the album will be finished for the new year. An album that express definitively the new mood and the final shape of the band. Waiting for a label that can give a boost to the band, "The Shadows" starts a tour with Darkwell in Germany and Netherlands and do a couple of shows togheter with Novembre and Death SS in Rome. The CD is ready in the end of April and the band is going to release it on the web as usual, with fan support, but suddenly a label Liepzig comes from called Voice of life and signs My Sixth Shadow for a 3 CDs contract with European distribution! The release plan changes as well as the tilte of the new CD. 5 tracks from the new album and 5 tracks from "Sacrifice". A collection of 5 old and 5 new song called "10 Steps to your heart" (release date 18 July in Europe). Now the Shadows got the boost they need to make it bigger. A videoclip is going to be released in september and in the fall of the year (Finally) will be released the definitive album! "Lovefading innocence" that includes 2 tracks of "10 steps 2 your heart", 1 special version of "Throw me away" and 9 new songs (with a new cover song and an electro-goth remix of Aeteria). Waiting for big things to happen... LET MY SIXTH SHADOW SURROUND YOU!

WHEN IT comes to Goth-metal, many bands manage to alienate half their potential audience by overdoing the juggernaut riffing and forgetting the melodies.My Sixth Shadow,on the other hand, clearly know how to keep everybody happy. Formed in Rome, where elegance jostles whit girt,the six- piece blend piano atmospherics, glorious,brain-chasing melodies and visceral guitars with a sleek sophistication, resisting the temptations of self-indulgence. Gruff grunts are nowhere to be heard; frontman Dave's vocals,and those of the band in the choruses, are shot through not only with passion but with personality-not easy when you're singing in a second lenguage. As taster for their second full-lenght album, this well produced and well presented CD (check out the Geiger-esque cover artwork) couldn't really bode any better. ALIX BUSCOVIC
