Artist History
Lead vocalist of the duo "Woloshin & Griffin."Experienced studio singer. Sang on many jinglesfor radio and TV such as McDonalds, Pearle Vision,Trump Castle andmany more. Wrote for artists such as Dionne Warwick,LaToya Jackson and Ben Vereen.ELLEN WOLOSHIN: TRIED AND TRUEIt has been said of singer-songwriter Ellen Woloshin that she is "blessed with the ability to beautifully frame a song with a voice that embodies the essence of warmth and sincerity." And, whether breathing No stranger to the recording studio, you have no doubt heard Ellen as the voice of everything from McDonald's to Crystal Light to Trump Castle (including making certain that the entire country knows that "Nobody Cares for Eyes More than Pearle"). And while Ellen has sung and written jingles for radio and television since her college years, it is as a singer-songwriter that she has truly distinguished herself. As lead vocalist in the acoustic duo, "Woloshin & Griffin," Ellen has opened for such artists as Laura Nyro and Bill Stains. Ellen's personal appearances range from playing the college circuit to appearing in her hometown of New York City at the famous Knitting Factory and as part of the "Battery Park City Concert Series" (which also featured Richie Havens) to performances at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. As a songwriter, Ellen's The Promise of Life has been recorded by Dionne Warwick to raise funds for crib death research and has been played by radio stations throughout the country. Ellen has written material for Ben Vereen and LaToya Jackson and her song Warning Label (co-written with "Woloshin & Griffin" partner, Barney Griffin) is included on two country music compilations currently in release throughout Europe and the UK.And so it seems inevitable that this collective experience as a studio singer, live performer and songwriter would come to fruition in Tried and True. This beautiful CD offers Ellen's songs performed with the insights only the songwriter herself can provide including an original duet, I Fall Hard with actor Mike McGlone of the films "The Brothers McMullen," "She's the One," and "The Bone Collector."In addition, the CD offers a sprinkling of songs by other writers that struck a particular chord with Ellen. Included are George Harrison's While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Ellen says she was "touched by its moving message of leading with love rather than fear"); Bill Withers' Whatever Happens (which Ellen discovered in a "happy accident" as she was looking for a different Withers song); and When We Dance (a lesser-known Sting song which Ellen says "perfectly matched my voice").Ellen has said she wanted Tried and True to be her personal collection of songs she truly loves to sing. And, in return, the world now has a classic, new voice that it can love to listen to. Join us in the celebration of Ellen Woloshin's Tried and True. |
