Artist description
Doug Spears is an active member of the phenomenon that is Groove Diggler. Check the band out at www.groovediggler.com or even here on mp3.com at: www.mp3.com/groovediggler. This site contains various pieces that Doug has created over the period of several years. It is not meant to provide a complete and comprehensive understanding to the music, as nothing worth appreciating is ever immediately made obvious and aware to you. It must, and will, take several years of in depth listening and study to become fully aware of the true depth that lies at your feet. Be careful, be adventurous, but most of all, try to look beyond the surface level. |

Artist History
Doug learned piano at a very early age. When his playing started to get pretty good, at the age of about 10, he immediately stopped playing music for four years to pursue 5 years of teenage euphoria. Then, at the age of 15, while working his first job to buy a drumset, he was given an electric guitar by his neighbor! These two instruments then became the focus over the next several years until the piano seemed interesting again. Since then, various instruments have introduced themselves to Doug and he has dabbled with them achieving varying levels of success and satisfaction. Recording has become a focus and Doug views the recording environment as an instrument in itself. This, the egg shaker and a sesame seed canister used as a percussion tool are the most recent instrument undertakings. Doug moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the summer of 2002 and that pretty much catches us up to speed......oh yeah, there were a few years in there where writing songs became a priority, a habit that seems to have stuck. This seems to have placed Doug in the unique position to begin playing with several friends and family members. This circle of influence has grown to become an invaluable source of inspriation, ideas, help and frustration. You see, music is a journey. To think that the experience is completely and utterly painless is to listen to Top 40 radio. To listen to Doug Spears is to feel, live, understand and appreciate the full spectrum of feeling that music and life has to offer. Life's short, breath in as much as you can. |
