Artist History
In 1990, Heloise Lochman received a most unusual and unique birthday gift from her husband -- a beautiful antique Italian accordion. She was charmed and after squeezing out her first few notes, she fell in love! After five years of lessons, learning the rudiments and how to read music, working alone and playing occasionally from the traditional repertoire for willing friends, she realized what she really wanted was to play zydeco. Onstage for the first time at 50 with a handful of musician friends, she had her first taste of singing in public and knew she wanted more. The next year brought together the "training band" called Red Beans & Rice, formed by good luck with some new friends. In 1997 Zydecology came together, a fun group of working musicians playing this irresistible Louisiana dance music. |
