Artist description
Xvektor is a project that embraces principles of minimalism as well as excess. An abstract soundscape of musical and non-musical elements, Xvektor produces generally dark, moody music and progressive noise. Both repetitive and expansive, the sound of Xvektor borrows from the progressive movement of the past 30 years. |

Artist History
Xvektor formed in 2000. Originally planned as a side project for the more rock oriented Bad Machine, Xvektor has taken on a life of its own. Though in its infancy, Xvektor has shown its promise (and its very sharp teeth.) In the past year Xvektor added the vocal element and veered into a more dark, progressive noise phase. Most lyrical content revolves around psychosis and/or fear of the governmental takeover of our lives. For most of 2002, Robbie was busy on other projects (Bed Of Nails, Weapons Of Musical Distortion) but did some perfect power licks on our favorite tune 'Puppets (Are We)' which sounds nothing like anything yet created by Xvektor. Jeff sat in for a couple of sessions and we were able to put a few guitar performances in the can. They pop up here and there whenever they are appropriate, as the Xvektor creative process is primarily the creation of sound collages. Recently, the Xvektor Collective fractured into two different projects with their emphasis in different areas. Xvektor's WORM Project was formed to create compositions primarily with guitar used in a more abstract way and less emphasis on synthesizer (although we challenge you to tell which parts are guitar and which are synth). We've also branched into Metal with the formation of Weapons Of Musical Distortion. Only one song has been released so far, a 56 second monster called 'That Thing That Makes Me Snap' which is trimmed down a bit from the CD version because it contains a sound clip from the motion picture 'Midnight Express' and we don't have legal clearance to use it commercially. Go to our MP3.com site and send us some input. We thrive on it. |
