Artist History
David Krivitsky was born into a family of musicians in 1937 in Kiev in the Ukraine. He began his musical education in the local Conservatoire before joining Henrich Litinsky’s composition class in the famous Gnessin State Institute in Moscow. As with many Russian composers, Krivitsky had to wait for the late 1980s for his creativity to take wing, when he wrote over 800 opus between 1986 and 2000 for all forms of music. Friendly professional ties with outstanding artists – Timophey .Dokshizer, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Daniel Fradkin, Alexander Rudin, etc. – have resulted in the creation of works which can be played only by musicians who display virtuosity in playing their instruments and subtle taste in music.Among his works there are such unique cycles like “Six sonatas for solo viola”, “Six sonatas for solo oboe”, “Six sonatas for clarinet’s family”, more then thirty instrumental concertos, opera “Doctor Zhivago” (by B.Pasternak), symphonies… In depth of content, modernity of style, variety of genres and forms the art of D.Krivitsky, one of the gifted Russian composers, is a landmark in our musical panorama. His manner is characterized by fascinating picturesqueness and plasticity of music, the dynamism of development of form, sincerity and expressiveness of pulsating rhythms. His emotionally rich music naturally develops in time and space. The composer’s ability to produce charming tune (a rather rare gift nowadays) enchants listeners’ by a fine intertwining of individual lines, evokes innermost strings in listeners’ souls. But first of all, the depth and sincerity of the expression of feelings, the truth in conveying ideas and moods of modern man captivate listeners of his music. Bright humanistic ideals, the high spirituality of composers’ works evoke a specific ethical mood, which makes Krivitsky’s music a socially significant phenomenon in the artistic world.Profound intelligence and culture, rich associative thinking enable the composer to convincingly assert the wealth of the spiritual world of man, who draws inspiration not only from the deeds of our days but also from immortal treasures of the past. The works of D.Krivitsky constantly perform in the best concert halls in Russia and abroad: in France, in Italy, and Israel. He constantly takes part in international festival “Moscow Autumn”. |
