    Artist History
The Pat Puckett Band plays honest, organic, original, twangy, guitar-driven roots rock. Fronted by Louisville-by-way-of Tallahassee singer/songwriter Pat Puckett, the band has been gaining a steady following in Tallahassee area for the last few years. Pat's sound has often been described as fitting into the Y'allternative, No Depression vein. This is largely due to the fact that Pat's style is as he describes it, "Tawng-pop". It's been called country by those struggling to label it, but it's really just classic sounding rock and roll with more of a southern attitude. Live, Pat's songs shift from intricate acoustic pop to guitarzan electric rockers. Pat's backing band has a Stonesy feel at times, employing loose-but-not-too-loose arrangements. The personnel in the Pat Puckett Band has at times seemed like a revolving cast of characters with more bass players coming and going than most folks can remember, but lately the lineup has somewhat solidified. Always at the foundation of the rhythm section has been drummer Scott McArthur, a Pensacola native and veteran of the Tallahassee scene, known for his lean, propulsive style and solid delivery. Muilti-instrumentalist Scott Campbell shifts from baritone guitar, pedal steel, dobro, acoustic guitar and sometimes bass to fill in the sound with interesting tones and textures. He has been called a guitar wizard by a local journalist and that is no exaggeration. Kati Schardl sings beautiful harmony vocals that intertwine with Pat's bourbon-tinged baritone. The band has shared the stage with the likes of Buick McKane, BR-549, The Silos, Levon Helm and the Barnburners, Old 97s, The Blacks, Alejandro Escovedo, Blue Mountain, etc. While it's true they mostly play with roots-country style artists, their live shows can be about as unpredictable as North Florida summertime weather.

    Press Reviews
"Judging by its performance as the opening band for the mighty fine Levon Helm and the Barnburners show earlier this month at the Cow Haus, Tallahassee's The Pat Puckett Band has developed as a major league talent in the y'allternative, Americana musical vein. With the help of some tasty steel guitar licks and loose-but-not-too-loose arrangements, Puckett and company put on a show that was as warm and comfortable as a shot of good single malt. Puckett, who has a father nicknamed Opossum back home in Kentucky, also has developed into a strong songwriter, worthy of his authentic Southern roots."Mark Hinson, Tallahassee Democrat, November 24,2000"The Pat Puckett Band plays country music with strong southern roots and an appreciation for all types of country music except for the mainstream garbage that passes for country on FM stations across the country these days." Break Magazine, November 2000
