    Artist History
Table 57 was formed in 1997 by the founding members, Lisa Bello (guitar and lead vocals) and Hector Rivera (bass). The name comes from an article in Premiere magazine featuring an influence of Lisa's, Hole's Courtney Love. Within the article Courtney Love is present at a restaurant where you had to "pick a number" in order to be served. The number Miss Love picked was 57, so out of a list of quite a few names written down, Lisa chose Table 57. Table 57 put ads everywhere for other members. The first to respond to their guitarist and drummer wanted ad was Rocco Paolino (guitar) and they started rehearsing in several rehearsal spaces in the Jersey City/Hoboken area, but the search was still on for a drummer. After several months of playing not so seriously but continually writing songs, they found a drummer named Joe Ciancimino. There was chemistry instantly between Hector, Joe and Lisa that seemed to leave out Rocco. So due to creative differences and other personal problems Rocco left the band.Lisa was left as the only guitarist, singer and chief songwriter of Table 57. The three of them practiced heavily in Joe's basement and got to be a tightly knit unit. The songs had an original sound and quality and were most importantly played with passion. Their first cassette release was a 3-song demo that was homemade on an 8-track recorder by a friend. It showed the blooming talents of the band and potential for the future. This tape was passed around to many clubs and Table 57 began to play shows around the NY/NJ area, venues such as Love Sexy (Hoboken), The Saint (Asbury Park) and CBGB's (NYC). There was a buzz around the band as something new and fresh for rock fans. In no time, a new higher quality demo was made, but this time in a recording studio called Suburban Soul in Highland Park NJ. This demo was much higher quality than the first and showed a more heavy side of Table 57. A few months after the second demo was released, just as thing started going good for the band who played out continually, internal struggles and unspoken tension within the once tightly knit trio began to show. As a result Joe left the band. The two founding members were left where they started in 1997, but not all hope was lost. They decided to keep the band going. Through a friend by the name of Lisa Rizzo, they found a new drummer, Jay Curcio. Jay was very interested in playing with the band. The band had a new lineup, and the three soon realized that Table 57 would not die. The band began to play out again a few places but finding shows seemed not to be as easy as it had been, but still the creative process flourished. The band also thought it was time to add another guitar player to the group. That new guitar player was Jon Conti, who was at the time playing with another local band by the name of As I Am. After a few rehearsals with Jon, the three had realized that they had found their new band member. Just when things were looking up in the band, Hector decided to leave the band. Personal and emotional stress made his mind change about his future with Table 57.Lisa was shocked and mortified at the loss of the only other founding member of Table 57. Jay and Jon convinced her to keep the band going and just find another bass player. Of all the people auditioned, only one person stood out. Trish Sabater, formerly a punk bassist from the now defunct Jersey City band, Obershenkel. The members chose Trish because of her young fresh talent, healthy creative drive and the common interests in music with the other members. The lineup of Table 57 was complete. After a few months of playing together, Table 57 decided to cut their first EP, Swallow Poison. This 5 song CD had all the elements of emotion that music is meant to have. Something that has been lost lately in a sea of manufactured pop and rock acts. Table 57 has quite a few songs written and not yet recorded. The writing process is never ending, as all four members continue to contribute all they can to coming up with new material. Of course there are always set backs...In May of 2001, Jon Conti left Table 57.
