Musical Influences
How long have you got? From Bach to Robbie Williams, as long as there's quality musicianship in it, I'll listen to it and enjoy. Whatever you hear as a musician, you get influenced by it - either to avoid sounding like it 'cos it's rubbish or to learn from it 'cos it's amazing. And yes, there's a difference between learning and drawing from something and just plain ripping it off. I hear too much obvious copying of style (and content!) these days, and it doesn't do us any good. Originality is everything, that's why I don't like to think my music sounds like anyone else, although occasionally that will happen. The artists listed in |
