Artist History
Maike who was born in northern Germany moved to the southern part of the country at a young age. Her father kept Plattdeutsch - the language which is only spoken in the North of Germany - alive in the family by means of Plattdeutsch literature, music and conversation. Maike studied several musical instruments. She liked the guitar best and started out with classical guitar. At the age of 17 when Maike wrote her first songs and lyrics, mainly in English (pop music, new wave, indie, punk etc.), she also composed music to poems of famous Plattdeutsch poets like Hermann Claudius and Hans Ehrke. They came out folky and had a medieval touch. She frequently performed the songs with other musicians but then turned to pop/rockmusic, joined the indieband "the mapmakers" of which Wolle Maier and Tim Eiermann - now known as "Liquido" - were part of. She published a dance/house track together with Rapper James Johnson on "PowerDance 97, vol2". Her vocals can also be heard on the Pyogenesis album "TwinAleBlood" (metal) Other bands she got involved in before her "PLATT" Songs were recorded (in 1998) at Firebach Studios, Heidelberg - can be found at http://www.besonic.com/sulkybeat, http://www.besonic.com/godsinembryo). Several of the PLATT-songs have been performed on TV so far.(exerpt of an article from "Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung") ... contact: Maike_Hamman@yahoo.de |
