Artist History The winter of 1998 as the world lay sleeping, a group of five men squeezed into a cramped, freezing rehearsal-room in Gothenburg and bore witness to the birth of Generous Maria. Over the course of the following months the reality of her situation began to become clear, "life in a box?! In this tiny rehearsal space?!!! Surely there has to be more! There has to be something else!!!!". Like a dog deprived of love and attention, she began to grow mean, aggressive. She began to find her voice, she learned to howl. In the summer of 1999 those same five men finally brought her out into the light and let her scream. The sound was captured on tape and given the name "strict nurse". The nurse found a home with the Spanish label Alone. They released the four-track e.p in the year 2000 a.d, and for a while Maria was once again calm. Soon the confines of that same cold chamber filled her anew with anger so fierce, a need for release so insistent, that no mere 4 tracks could hold such sheer volume of raw emotion. With no little trepidation the quintet once again allowed her a voice, but this time in front of the masses. Finally Maria found her place in the grand design. Like a hungry child she began to feed off the experience and grow, and grow. Soon she was coaxed back into the studio once more. The result is the debut album from Gothenburg five piece, Generous Maria. A prime slice of high-tension rock action thatīll in one sitting "increase your sperm count and lower your IQ". Chapters have been torn from the book of "rock" and swallowed whole. This is rock music as it once was and can be again, proud tall and hard. Rock that makes no apologies. A Zeppelin to the "stoner" Sabbath if you will..
