    Artist History
Anjunabeats Records was established in the summer of 1999 by Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki. The “Anjuna Boys” met at university having already begun to make a name for themselves independently as record producers. Two heads seemed better than one, so they decided to team up and establish a label for releasing their uplifting and progressive trance music. Opening up with Anjunabeats "Volume 1", the bomb had been dropped. The label made off to a good start with support from DJs such as Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyk. A club hit in its own right, Anjunabeats "Volume 1" went on to secure the boys remix work for high profile acts. Teaming up with fellow producer Tony McGuinness to form Above & Beyond, following their remix work on his own record, Nitromethane "Time To Die", they clicked and went on to remix Chakra “Home” for WEA. This was the lead mix and hit the number 1 spot in the UK club chart, causing big reactions on the nation’s dancefloors. As a result, the remix requests rolled in. Above & Beyond have since produced remixes for artists Adamski, Dario G, Armin, Aurora and most recently Madonna. Madonna liked the Above & Beyond mix of "What it Feels like For a Girl" so much that she decided to use it instead of the radio mix for the video – a groundbreaking decision from a groundbreaking artist that has shocked the industry and challenged the rules. In their Free State guise, Jono and Paavo have remixed songs including 4 Strings "Day Time" (A Judge Jules favourite) and the ever-so-huge Croydon Dubheads “Your lying” (no.7 in Judge Jules’s chart). Now with a substantial fan-base behind them thanks to this wealth of successful remixes, you can expect some huge records from Anjunabeats’ artists in 2001.

    Press Reviews
Free State-Different Ways. 10/10 Reviewed by Louk for Offitsface. "As you may have noticed if you check my reviews site, this tune has been sitting at No 1 in my chart for a long time. A Strong contender for tune of the year in my opinion. It's a tune that will certainly be building up a lot of good press this year I think. Strong pounding kick drums, hints of the riff getting dropped in and a bouncy bass with weird brass-type loops. Then it all drops down to the bass and a vocal sample which sounds like its from "The Matrix". Some Lush Choirs fade in and the riff builds up and it all goes mad from there. One hell of a bouncy tune that really gets me going, then some hi strings are added as an underlay with the riff. This tune is definately the best thing I've heard for a long long time. Keep it coming and When this tune is released then this tune has a very strong recommendation from me."
