Artist History
Manuel Partida was living in Chicago, Ill. and had a concept dealing with nature but expressed through modern means as plastic arts and electronic music (name of the concept was "Humus"). When he came back to his original country (Mexico), in late 1990, he joined La Funcion de Repulsa members and made diverse improvisational collaborations. Some solo tracks created by himself and his brother Luis Alberto gave the final touch to the first tape of Humus: "The Beauty of Wood" (1991). After awhile they began to compose new pieces for a new album. Then a problem came out with the name: another band in Mexico had it registered, so it was changed to Detritus and under this name their first CD was released "El Vaivén de los Ciclos" (1996). They've played very few times, mostly in art exhibitions. New CD is being produced. |

Press Reviews
"Detritus create very strange experimental industrial. Their murky mixture includes percussive thuds, electronic noises, samplings and other synthesized sounds and above all a characterizing deep voice reciting technological-ballad lyrics" - Chain D.L.K. #5 from Italy"...this is a very competent collection of tracks, wheter it's the DEUTSCH NEPALISH 'Orion Drama', the quiet piano of 'Ukna', the bruitish almost BLACKHOUSE sounding 'Yourself?', one of the more orchestral tracks, or any of the musty little corners in between, this makes for an interesting and surprisingly cohesive listen" - Worm Gear #7 from U.S.A."Far away from the poor electro and industrial experiments of their compatriots, the Mexican Detritus are dealing with an intelligent kind of atmospheric music with a rather professional aproach in the way of composing!" - Side-Line #22 from Belgium"...a very unique piece of innovative/intelligent musicianship. Being a showcase of diversity, this album caress vast musical ideas of different forms, inhaled, remodeled and put together" - Illvminations #2 from Turkey"It's an impressive release - rich with textures, feelings & the joys and sorrows of life... This is a highly recommended sonic masterpiece" - Objekt webzine from USA"Ambient and harsh industrial noises mix with minimalist pianos, sample-loops, darkwave synth strings, enviromental sounds, ethereal waltzes and occasional vocals to produce some great spell-binding music. This really is top quality stuff" - Blatant Propaganda #2 from Australia"...this band has been really great to mix together different musical movements in a unique common landscape" - Ascension #3 rom Italy |
