Artist History
Alli With An I started practicing in March 2000. We grew out of two other bands called The Chip-Punx and Hindsight. We started playing shows in May 2000. We have played over 30 shows now and continue to play out as often as possible. We hooked up with Out of Boredom records in December of 2000. We just recorded an 8 song CD called Long Story Short on Feb. 24 and 25, 2001. It was released on May 4, 2001. In May we underwent a bass player change and now our friend Tom plays bass. |

Press Reviews
"Hailing from Raliegh, NC comes this fine young punk band. Long Story Short is their first recording with eight tracks of energetic punk rock. This band has just formed sometime in the past year but you would never be able to tell. The CD is packed with a good variety of fast and slow parts with a lot of good breakdowns mixed in nicely. they have a pretty upbeat tempo combined with harmonic vocals that will have you signing along in no time. Something that I have always judged a band's quality is by watching them play live. I hate it when a band that I like disappoints me live. Not the case with Alli With An I. They are amazing to see live, and you can tell that they really love music. My favorite songs are This Summer and Time Will Heal. I've left this CD in my car CD player for one month straight and never found myself bored...I highly recommend it!"

"I really enjoyed this--very heartfelt dilletante punk rock that mixes equal elements of bands like Fuel, Alkaline Trio, and Monsula. Yeah, it's East Bay out the wazoo. The production is perfectly rough and the lyrics walk the line between corny and emotive without ever setting foot in the latter's territory. Check these guys out; bands like this need to be encouraged to not just come and go."

Review of our second show at Go! Room 4 in Carrboro, NC on May 19, 2000 with The Scaries, M.I.J., and No Touch Red
"...O.k. next was Alli [With An I] and all I have to say is these guys have got to be one of the greatest bands I have ever seen and they don’t even have any releases. They are from [Raleigh] and holy shit! They rocked my socks off! I will most likely be at their next show around here and I suggest you be there too..."

"So emo it hurts" Don't let that scare you away, or get your hopes up. I really hate classifying bands, especially using that "emo" word. But that is what it says on their shirts, so I guess Alli With An I is an emo band from Raleigh, NC. Whatever they are, they sure rock. This is their first release and it is really good. If you are into punk rock, you'll like this. This CD is full of harmonies in the right places and catchy riffs and lyrics that will have you singing and humming to yourself all day, and then people will stare at you. Alli is one of the best bands in the local scene, and have a very promising future. They have been compared to the likes of Saves The Day, and early Get Up Kids, so you know you'll like them. Support the local scene, and come out to a show and buy their CD."

"This band has a great similarity with Mock Orange, except it has fast rhythms that Mock Orange lacked. The singer offers an emotive element that is complimented with fine lyrics. Melodic punk doesn't have to be extremely fast to be good. With some great riffs and constant harmonies Alli With An I provides solid material. This band also concentrates on individual insights and relationships in their lyrics. I found a couple of songs a little too long, but that's not a huge negative aspect of the cd. Alli With An I adds honesty to their songs. Some people can learn a lot from this fresh band. I liked Eye Level, This Summer, and 3 Words."

"Just looking at this album's cover makes me think of high school English class...picture this, it's the day before the big test on that book you were supposed to read about 2 weeks ago (of course you didn't read it), what do you do...whip out the good old' Cliff Notes to get you through. With eight decent length songs, this album is put together very well. I've actually caught myself singing along to a few of their songs without the album even being in my stereo. It reminds me of an upbeat almost, dare I say, Saves the Day type of sound. I know, almost every band has been compared to them lately, but that's what music is coming down to. They have a whiny sound quality, same idea with breakdowns, and catchy lyrics, the epitome of pop/punk/emo bands. If you wanna go for a sound you know and love, this dishes it all up for you."

"This works territory somewhere between early Weston and the Get Up Kids. I love vocals like this, which throw in some off kilter/emo (but not screamed emo) harmonies, the music is pretty straight up pop punk, mixed with a little of the indie rock stuff in bridges of some songs that is all the rage these days with the kids in vertical striped shirts. Lyrically, the songs hit on typical boy/girl relationship themes but what the hell. I think these guys have a shot, but the band name just gets me."
