Artist History
The spoon fed adults were born in February 1999 when I purchased my first four track (a Tascam 414). The idea was that with a little bit of help from some fellow musicians I could possibly record enough decent material to burn a CD. I have in the past played in a handful of short-lived bands, most notibly Droned, Chicken Snatch, and None Of The Above (All with Justin Craig), in which I never sang, usually played bass, and never wrote songs. My attitude in February was that since I wasn't in a band at the time and had a couple of good ideas for songs that I should record my music first and try to form a band afterwards. The sessions for what would become the first spoon fed adults album, Mary, Joseph, Jesus and Pat took seven months, being complete in August. The title of album was actually thought up by my girlfriend Sarah; She thought it was comical that someone like myself was born to Mary and Joseph Raison. The album itself was basically recorded by myself, with help on drums by Milton Chavez and Charley Beresford, and additional drum work and a guitar solo by Justin. As I was recording the album I thought it would be a good idea to start up a little independent recording label. Then I remebered Justin jokingly said once that he wanted to start a label called Cut and Paste Records(which is now Belo-fi Records). I asked him if it was cool that I used the name and if he wanted to participate in this little venture, which he did. The next step was to recruit my good friend Kris Underwood to help us with graphic design and art work for the label. With the recording of the album and the label underway I decided to see it anybody would play in the spoon fed adults, which was just a pseudo-band at the time. The hardest thing about starting a band is finding a competent drummer, which I did find in my old friend Charley Beresford who I felt complemented the sound I was going for. Next a friend and co-worker of mine Jason Gore expressed interest in playing bass. I said sure knowing that he was a great musician/songwriter from seeing his band DPW. A couple of buddies/neighbors Stu "World War Stu" Womack and Keith "Dutch Oven" Kleinfeldt had started a band of their own, Point-O-Eight (which has since changed their name to Chuckie's New Ploy)). They basically gave us the guantlet to run with so to speak by letting us upen up for them a couple of times in the musty but always pleasant basement of The Summit. Not to sound like I walk around with my head up my own ass, but we sounded pretty good with the exception that the sound wasn't as full as I would of liked it to be. Justin asked if he could play with us during a later gig at The Summit, which I agreed to. The show with Justin went so well that I asked him to become a permanent member of the group, which he said he would. The spoon fed adults were assembled |
