Inspired by the '60's "Blue Note style" Jazz, has performed often in the Los Angeles area, in venues such as The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Jazz Bakery, The House of Blues, Hollywood Park Casino, Baked Potato, Luna Park, LA County Museum of Art, etc. In addition, the group has been invited to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Their sound is an exciting mix of straight-ahead and Latin Jazz. They are a group to be seen and heard! |

Artist History
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Elliott played in various local R&B and Jazz groups,including The Indiana University Jazz Ensemble, as well as studying music with there knowned David Baker, Jazz Department Chair at Indiana University.In Los Angeles, Elliott has performed and/or recorded with numerous groups and individuals, including Teddy Edwards, Ernie Andrews, O.C. Smith, Wycliff Jean,Beck, The Beastie Boys, The Machito Orchestra, Rudy Calzado (former collaborator with Celia Cruz), Bobby Matos, Johnny Martinez, Tierra, The Solsonics, legendary Jazz drummer Larance Marable; comedian/singer Joey Cheezhee, including appearances on "Entertainment Tonight" and an HBO special,"On The Ledge". Elliott has also performed with the reknowned latin-ska group,Jump With Joey, including three tours of Japan, numerous recordings, and several tours of the USA. Aditionally, he has received a Platinum Record for his work with the rock group, Filter. Elliott has had quite a few appearances in feature films, some of which include The Adams Family, Sinatra, and Gypsy, also he was featured trumpeter in "Nina Wachenfeld Sings Kurt Weill",one of the very few tributes in the 100 year anniversary of the great composer's birth.For the last several years, Elliott's prime musical focus has been developing, writing and performing with his own group, which usually performs as a quintet or sextet.The first CD, Orientation, received a warm reception with numerous favorable reviews. Two songs from the CD were chosen to be included in a prominent"independent film" entitled, "Relax...It's Just Sex", featuring well-known actress,Jennifer Tilly. The film has headlined at many film festivals, and was distributed worldwide. In addition, Orientation received extensive radio airplay, from over 150 stations in the USA alone, and reaching #29 on Gavin Jazz. The group's new CD, Le Super Cool, has reached #14 on Gavin Jazz in 2001! This is a must hear must buy CD, with even more reviews. |

The newest recording, "Le Super Cool", has most ofthe musicians from "Orientation", but with some new faces: Elliott Caine plays trumpet; Michael Rose playstenor sax on most selections, with Chuck Manning and Justo Almario performing on tenor for one song apiece; Peter Aplanalp handles most of the baritone sax work, with David Ralicke playing bari on one song;Justin Reinhardt is again the pianist, with guest artist,Greg Kurstin, playing organ on one selection; Anthony Wilson plays guitar on one song, as well; Willie McNeil and Joel Alpers divide up the drum work, while Ramon Banda plays conga drums, and Willie McNeil plays miscellaneous percussion on selected numbers; Bill Markus and Trevor Ware divide up the bass work. The musicians performing on "Orientation", the firstCD released by The Elliott Caine Sextet, are as follows: Elliott Caine plays trumpet; Michael Roseand Chuck Manning share most of the tenor sax work, with Justo Almario playing tenor on one track,and Chuck Manning playing alto sax on one track;David Ralicke plays baritone sax throughout the record; Justin Reinhardt is the pianist, while Bill Markus performs on upright bass; drum duties are mostly assigned to Willie McNeil, though two tunes are left to the great West Coast drummer, Larance Marable, and congas and other percussion work are played by Ramon Banda. All songs are composed and arranged by Elliott Caine. |
