Artist description
Grupo Yanqui plays latin jazz and crusty salsa favorites. Co-leaders, pianist BennettPaster and bassist Greg Ryan, contribute original compositions and arrangements of classic Cuban music. The music is entertaining and artistic, but the focus is on groove. The original compositions draw from Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and American traditions. Grupo Yanqui contrasts their creative originals with selecions from Cuban masters Arsenio Rodriguéz, Peruchín, Beny Moré and others. Their performances are fun and funky; a true “salsa” of modern and traditional music. |
