Artist description
STONE strives for an organic sound. This is achieved with a foundation of strong drums, bass, and guitar, which support a REAL kind of music that comes from deep inside of all of us. The combination of Bob and Joe on drums and bass gives STONE a rhythmic style that is solid and driving yet replete with added tones and kicks that support and enhance the guitars and vocals. The rhythm section creates a rich canvas to present the musical contrast of John and Eric's guitar statements. The two guitars provide an infinite variety of combined rhythms that are as intricate as a hard rain on a summer night or as pounding and industrial as the sonic assault of a construction site. Their leads can be haunting like lonely wind or slashing like a saber, but always with the infusion of rich melodic elements. John is a storyteller with lyric and melody, weaving his parables with a complex vocal style. His voice can be smooth and warm like a glass of fine bourbon in one passage and then as lethal as a pipe bomb, lashing out with a storm of emotional fury in the next. |

Artist History
The current line up of STONE assembled in the summer of 1999. Most of the members of the band had individually worked together on other projects. The influences of the band are diverse. All of the guys have played a variety of music in other groups (Rock, Dance, Pop, Funk, R&B), but STONE showcases the talents and influences of these four musicians in a new way. STONE brings together the aggression of Rock with grooves that are infectious. To complete the picture are John Long's lead vocals with lyrics that really have something to say and melodies that you can't forget. The trick is getting all of this on a CD so that it can be heard. All of the members of STONE have been involved heavily in recording throughout their careers. Through countless hours of studio work as musicians and producers these four are as comfortable recording as they are breathing. They really enjoy working together on their original recordings and have found it easy to capture their live essence on tape. |

Press Reviews
According to Out On The Town: "STONE, a band that is as involving on CD as they are mesmerizing live. So get hold of a STONE CD anyway you can and enjoy it for yourself, but you have got to catch a live performance to get the full effect of STONE. The live shows incorporate the best of STONE’s recorded polish with a brash energy and their unending desire to take the music where the crowd wants it to go. These guys come unglued on stage in front of an audience. With the added energy of a live house these four can visually and sonically give out as much as the crowd can take from the first riff to the last encore." |
