Artist History
[Simple Discourse] began in October of 1999, as the brainchild of frontman Jim Bernat. With Brian Kingsbury aboard on guitar, Mike Allison on drums, and Andy Viera on bass, the band played some shows, wrote some songs, were featured in a documentary, and recorded a four song demo in their basement - which caught the attention of the Worcester Phoenix - who heralded them as one of the most impressive acts in Worcester of 2001. After a six month hiatus and a lineup change, which brought Mark Veligor to the bass and Jason Rossman to the drums, [Simple Discourse] returned to the pen in December, 2001 - writing four songs in a span of weeks and unveiling them in their Worcester homecoming at the Lucky Dog Music Hall in March, 2002. The songs are what many claim to be a "powerful and enormous" step forward for the band- comparing them to such acts as Jimmy Eat World, Mineral, Thursday, and Boy Sets Fire. AND their live performances whoop batman's ass! [the Simple Discourse] will head into the studio for the first time this May and plan to release an ep / split with long time friends Try As We Might (fr. Flip Fifty Five) by summer 2002. They continue to write and tour relentlessly, gaining new fans wherever they play.

Press Reviews
"... tight, shoegazing Brit-pop...an inspired cover version of the Britney Spears teeny-pop dance hit 'Crazy', that totally rocks...[Simple.Discourse.] is merely a sampling of the more impressive new bands that have emerged in the past year."Worcester Phoenix January 4, 2001 |
