Artist History
The rock/pop trio Mir is one of Canada's most innovative and exciting new bands. Mir has been on the Canadian music scene for just over three years and with the release of their new album, "Invisible Science", they are catching the ears of music industry professionals not only in their own country, but overseas as well. Their new recording has been embraced by the Canadian music scene. With an East Coast Music Award 2001 Nomination for Best Pop/Rock Artist and a feature spot on the ECMA Nationaly televised broadcast, Mir's sounds will be heard by millions. The trio, consisting of Asif Illyas( vocals/guitar/programming), Shehab Illyas( bass/vocals/sampling) , and Adam Dowling( drums/percussion/vocals/loop sampling) has recieved accolodes such as # 19 Album( Invisible Science) of 2000 ( Q104 - Halifax's major pop/rockradio station), #1 Album( Invisible Science) of 2000 ( The Daily News). The group has also created the acclaimed Mir Supershow ( 1999 and 2000 ) where they performed, produced, and arranged an astonishing night of music with special guests consisting of some of Canada's finest artists with a 17 piece orchestra made up of members of Symphony Nova Scotia. With radioplay and exposure growing at an exponential rate, Mir's invisible science will soon become a visible phenomenon! |
