Artist description
Each member of Mass brings a different style to the band, centering the overall style somewhere in the Pop-alt-rock genre. Steven's complicated while musical beats give the sound a strong, energetic backbone without being overbearing or too repitious. Shawn's rythmn guitar adds to the total energy of the band with everything from punchy chords and melodic tones to fast wah and heavy chord progressions. Matt's heavy theory background provide for bass lines which back up Shawn's progressions while also occasionally taking the melody or a counter-melody to the lead for a complex musical effect. Aaron draws from a heavy blues background which provides well-fitting solos as well as interesting countermelodies. Yes, we all sing and don't ask me why I mentioned that las |

Artist History
The band was originally formed in 1998 with Aaron, Shawn, Steven, and another bass player whose name this webmaster (not having joined the band yet) doesn't know. That bassist had to drop after a short time, leaving the spot vacant until Matt (ahem) joined in 1999. Taking the acronym MASS, the band began writing in a diverse range of musical styles due to their varied influences. Adam Nagel of PHD, a good friend of MASS, has also started working as the band's recording engineer. |
