Artist description If Iggy Pop is the godfather of Punk Rock, then Johnny Cheapo must be one of his baptized in blood, bastard godsons. Hailing from the sleazy, slimy, methinduced, biker bastion slums of Southern California's darkest corner - San Bernardino, Johnny Cheapo may be its only bright light. With his snotty yet memorably catchy brand of Punk Rock, Cheapo's music harkens back to the music that made the Ramones and Sex Pistols common words in Punk Rock households. Although it seem as if Cheapo has come out of nowhere, he definitely has pain his dues, spending a good part of the last ten years playing in many a Punk band. And finally his former bank to go solo. "Being a solo artist, especially a punk rock solo artist is hard work," says Cheapo when comparing the lone route to being in a band. "I have to work harder; I write all the music and lyrics, produce and arrange all the songs, and drink all the beer, it's hard work." What about his band "It's easier to deal with band members because they enter my situation knowing what to expect and knowing who's in charge. Otherwise they wouldn't be playing for me. Like a friend of mine used to say to me: "It's my band, my show, my Rock n' Roll.
