Band History Janie Grey, a rouges gallery, a band of free styling monks sent here to spread mirth and mayhem from seam to shining seam. The band was formed initially in Chattanooga, TN. Tony Keats, Kyle Walsh, and Eric Brown began playing Blues driven rock in the low rent section of Chattanooga where they honed their skills as master musicians and street tough mad men.It was here that the band began developing a diehard following prompting them to spread out to a wider audience. In Murfreesboro’s steamy back woods the three musicians met Denny Presley, a hard working musician looking for a new band with which to share his vision. “When our two styles of music met head on we knew we had hit upon the sound that we had been looking for,” says Eric Brown, the groups founding bass player. ” Denny’s style was very free and roaming, when we started playing together we just sort of…gelled. Now we were taking the music to places that we never thought we would and, in turn, the music was doing the same for us”In 1994 the band hooked up with Don Eanes , a hard living working mans musician. Once again Eric states, “Don attacks the keyboard with a wild mans lust and frenzied abandon, and the boy can sang. When he started playing with us we found the sound we had been missing without even knowing it.”“Tony’s songwriting has always been a cornerstone of our band he always produces a sound that is both moving and heartfelt. Don has added a great amount of soul and feel with his songs that seem to just get better each time we play them. And Denny is as always breaking ground with his improvisational playing and using his gift for writing to springboard us into new areas.” States Kyle Walsh, mad man supreme.Kyle Walsh and Eric Brown lay down a rock solid rhythm for the mayhem that unfolds musically at every Janie Grey show. But neither of them stay firmly in the confines of that role either. Eric’s moving bass lines take on a life of their own and flow masterfully.Kyle Walsh , what can be said that hasn’t already? An American original. A drummer who swings.Janie Greys first album ‘ Memories , Enemies and Friends’ was released in 1996 to rave reviews. (RELIX and various other magazines in the U.S., BUSCADERO in Italy and various European countries.) Their latest effort is entitled ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ and is a testament to how the band has grown as poignant songwriters as well as gifted musicians.

    Press Reviews
Reviews“Although they have a penchant for jazz-meets-psychedelic jamming and extended instrumental segments, good songs are an important and intrinsic part of their music.” BUSCADERO Magazine (Italy) “Right from the introduction it’s evident that these guys are extremely accomplished musically. And yes, the band’s vocals and songwriting are as good as it’s instrumental work. Why Janie Grey hasn’t made a bigger impact outside of its touring area is a mystery but, then again, you can change that!” RELIX Magazine “Plus, the group almost always puts the tune first, coming up with winning melodies that can withstand several minutes of improvisation” GRAFFITI Magazine (Charleston, WV) “Hints of The Band, The Beatles, bluegrass, jazz and a heavy dose of great songwriting permeate Janie Grey’s music with an end result being a refreshing and original sound fused together effortlessly” The HOME GROWN MUSIC NETWORK “The problem inherent with a Janie Grey CD is translating the energy and passion of an incredible live show in the sterile studio environment. The real strength in the album is the anticipation it brings to see these guys live, and believe me, a JG show is not easily forgotten.” The BREVIS (Chattanooga, TN)
