Artist description
Staggercat is an eight piece midwest funk-n-soul groove band interested in only one thing; makin' your ass move. We take our main influences from early groove pioneers such as Sly and the Family Stone and Rare Earth. We use odd meters at times and full classical orchestrations to bring it all together. To pigeon-hole our sound as soul or jazz or funk or anything else is to not fully understand it. |

Artist History
Matt Carpenter (formerly of Lap Dogs and Whichamus) and Brad Watson (formerly of Lap Dogs and Orchestra Universal) got together with bassist Aaron Grabemeyer to form funk/groove band. Aaron brought Shaun along. Nick was found in a local coffee shop. Dan was added early on to fill out the horns. We've gone through 5 drummers. We now have Greg Tomory, who rocks out on the recordings you'll hear (the recordings are from his first day at practice). |
