    Artist History
to the valley of the green Willamette, singing in coffeehouses, around campfires, and on the rickety stages of the ongoing Revolutions,..Dodd has followed in Woody's footsteps... (What's Happening 10 4-90) When Patrick begins writing, performing, and speaking on behalf of a cause his music gives voice to the alienated and oppressed directly and indirectly. His music empowers the oppressed to speak, and inspires those more privileged to listen with their hearts open. Patrick’s songs educate while entertaining his audiences. Patrick has been honored by groups as varied as the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D. C., which chose to include his song Militant Response (Take Back the Night), and the Homeless Hall of Fame in Chicago Ill., who honored his work both as an artist and an activist on behalf of the homeless. But Patrick is also a polished performer who has spent thirty years of his life on stages. His songs have been heard at folk festivals and coffee houses across the country. After several solo recordings (Soil of Desperation, Provocateur, Prayers From the Rubble, and Crimes Against the State), Patrick is now in the process of recording his next C.D. Up In Arms, with “Small Revolutions” due for release in the summer of 2001. Patrick has now joined with Justine Kace, Jamie Mishley, and Ian Finneran form Small Revolutions, transforming Patrick’s dust bowl ballads into a modern sound that makes audiences get up and dance.

WHO ARE SMALL REVOLUTIONS?SINGER/SONGWRITER PATRICK DODD Once or twice a generation comes a performer whose voice is so clear, passion for justice so unwavering, and creative talent such that their music has the capacity to inspire audiences widely enough to become “controversial.” Singer/Songwriter Patrick Dodd, the creative force behind Small Revolutions, is such a performer. Patrick is a true poet who shares more than mere songs; he shares experiences, feelings, and passions. Patrick Dodd is a native of the mid-west and has traveled the highway and back roads of America for most of his life. It is that highway, the people along the way and their stories that are retold in Patrick’s music. One fan referred Patrick’s music as, “… the contemporary people’s history of America set to music.” This is what connects Patrick Dodd and his audience. He reaches out and touches his audience like few performers. Patrick returns American folk music to its political roots. Bumming around the country from the cornfields of Kansas to the mountains of Colorado to the valley of the green Willamette, singing in coffeehouses, around campfires, and on the rickety stages of the ongoing Revolutions,..Dodd has followed in Woody's footsteps..." Patrick has now joined with Justine Kace, Jamie Mishley, and Ian Finneran form Small Revolutions, transforming Patrick’s dust bowl ballads into a modern sound that makes audiences get up and dance. Justin Kace is one kick ass drummer!!!! His list of folks he has played with sounds like a who's who of famous musicians. Music lessons began at age 10 with the flute, but at twelve some neighbor kids parents decided to buy band gear for their kids. The youngest kid was too young, thus the new "band" was short a drummer. Justin joined the band and picked up his first pair of drumsticks. After six months of long dedicated hours of practice, and with the help of a tireless stage mother, these kids rocked Detroit as a local cover band. By age 17 Kace hired an agent, who kept him busy playing the local pubs with numerous local country, rock, and soul bands while he finished high school. After high school Justin moved to Ann Arbor to attend music classes at Bussley Hall, Univ. of Mich. Justin went on to fill in for the drummer in the MC5, tour with Chairman at the Board (with 3 consecutive gold records), Ben Johnson, (author of Patches, a Grammy winning single, Want Ad, Give it Just a Little More Time, Pay the Piper), Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Jerry Miller, Ben Bonnet, and Henry Vestine (Canned Heat). Ian Finneran is our boy wonder on bass. Ian started playing trumpet at 12, but switched to the bass when he decided to devote his life to music by age 15. Ian’s first public performance was with his middle school jazz band at the Eugene Hult Center. Concurrent with high school, Ian went on to play with a local band called Murton Smurl, and the Foxfire house band, which is where we found Ian and immediately recruited him for Small Revolutions. Ian is graduating from high school this year, and has agreed to grace us with his talent for the summer. Ian will be attending the University of Oregon School of Music in the fall. No doubt, given Ian's natural talent, driving dedication, and amazingly steep learning curve, this is the beginning of what will be a blazing musical career. He may be young but in his case this only means he will wow us for many years to come.Jamie Mishley, at age 27, is already a well-traveled guitarist. He began playing at 12 while living in Plainsville CT., and in a very few years took his music to America. Jamie has gone on to appear with Max Creek, Jamo, from the Almond Brothers Band, Luther Guitar Jr., guitarist in the Muddy Waters Band. As a solo artist Jamie has opened for Robert Earl, performed on the Vermont Ski circuit and in many east coast clubs such as the House of Blues and Joe Perry’s. After moving to Oregon, Jamie hooked up first with Foxfire, and now with Small Revolutions as a lead guitarist. Bringing elements of Folk, Rock, Country, Blues, and Bluegrass into a signature sound that is all his own Jamie is now recognized as a versatile and dynamic lead guitarist who delivers night after night.541-942-9284 81169 Beach, Creswell OR 97426 dodd_Patrick@hotmail.com
