Junkyard Symphony is a four man hip-hop band on Junk. Using an assortment of PVC dijeridoos for bass, a Bath tub, oil drums, and pickle buckets for rhythm, pot and pans and steel drums for melody, radical rhythmic vocals focusing on environmental and social justice, and yes even the kitchen sink, Junkyard Symphony creates such a unique show that you will find yourself wanting to go home and bang on your own pots and pans. |

Artist History
The Junkyard Symphony company was created in 1991 by founder Jonny Olsen, aka, Junyard Jonny. The purpose of the company was to promote imaginative ways in which to re-use junk. Junkyard Symphony's first show, entitled Jonny O and the Amazing Lackey, was extremely successful and played everything from garden parties, to schools, to festival main stages, to private performances for the Tragically Hip. In 1999, when the Amazing Lackey, aka Christian Duquette left the company, Jonny decided to enlist new members and reform the company with three shows rather than one, that would each cater to specific venues. Jonny who is bilingual, has his Bachelor of Environmental Studies from The University of Waterloo. He is a 4 R's enthusiast: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rock, and he has spread his message to over a thousand audiences across Canada, The U.S., Singapore and England. |
