    Artist History
It was 1977, and I was sitting in the Student Unionof the UT campus at Austin when I saw this guy walkby wearing a kilt. I jumped up out of my seat andstopped hom to ask what he was doing with a kilt."Well," he replied, my familty is from Scotland,and..." "Yeah, yeah, ok. But, why are you wearing it today, and why here?" He said, "Oh, well, I'm wearing my kilt in honor of Sean Connery's birthday."We both had a good laugh (even though he was totally serious). After some talk, we discovered that bothof us played the bagpipes and ended up jamming that night. We eventually formed a band. A short time later,we named that band The Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums.Patrick Reagan about meeting Kevin Hendryx Cofounders, Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums.

    Press Reviews
Austin Chronicle Recommended Listening: "What do you get when you cross Afro-Brasilian percussion and samba rhythms with Celtic pipes and drums? It's called Samba Thistle, and it's a conglomerate of local bands Sambaxé and the Silver Thistle Pipes & Drums. It may seem that mixing the body-rousing drums of Brazil and West Africa with a spiritually and viscerally stirring Celtic pipe arrangement would surely send you careening into some sensory overload, but these people are professionals - you'll be in good hands." Austin Chronicle Review of "Hey wake up there, man!"http://www.auschron.com/issues/dispatch/2000-02-04/music_recviews14.html
