Artist description
Best described by David DeVoe as Dark Country with a WHOLE LOT of distortion, the New Ben Franklins are a musical anamoly. Combining influences from a diverse musical background has led to the development of a distinctive band tone. In the early days of the band, with Malcolm Tent at the helm on vocals, the band was considered progressive gothic rock. With the departure of Tent in 1995, DeVoe returned to the lead vocalist position, as well as guitarist, in the power trio style of rock. |

Artist History
The New Ben Franklins have been performing and recording for nearly a decade. They have released 3 eps independantly: 1993's "Blake", 1994's "No Songs For Christine" and 1995's "Deaf Child Blind". All were limited releases, and the first 2 were sold out quickly. Copies of the 3rd ep are still somewhat available. There have been different incarnations of the New Ben Franklins, but one constant remains: The intensity of David DeVoe's songwriting and emotional guitar playing. DeVoe has also been a member of seminal Denver punk bands, as well as the guitarist and producer for industrial music giant Fiction 8. |
