Artist description
THE FABULOUS HOGHORNS is a trio that plays improvised chamber stomp on hybrid instruments called hoghorns. The hoghorns are basically brass instruments fitted with saxophone mothpieces – in this case a trumpet, a valve trombone and a tuba – but what comes out of this combination is a totally new instrument. The concept has been explored before, but seldom as thoroughly as here – and seldom with such powerful, beautiful and enjoyable music as a result. The music moves primarily in the lower tonal regions, and if the tonal scope is limited, the ingenuity is all the bigger. |
