    Artist description
the blue hotel is really tired of seeing these over paid rock stars looking bitter about being famous. We enjoy the music we play, and enjoy playing it. We also have the attitudes to support our enjoyment. At shows we do not urinate on our audience nor do we throw bodily fluids at anypoint during the performance. We just play good music for the people who enjoy it, and we hope you do.

    Artist History
the blue hotel officially started in october of 2000.guitarist and singer/songwriter jon mack had been writing for the past two years when he decided to practice with drummer and percussionist john peck. not long after that they added guitarist austin longacre. something was still missing and bass player les sellers was that person. les was added in march of 2001. Then Jon felt lonely being the only chubby one, so Rafe Grigar was added on the guitar and mandolina. we just finished recording a a demo and we will be promoting the band very heavily. all i want to say is peace to the mother land and to all the homeys and ladies who want to hear us play you'll get your chance soon enough!

PLENTY OF ROOM EXISTS AT THE BLUE HOTEL-the mesquite news thursday may 24 2001. by daren watkins. think the music of todays generation is all about heavy hammering guitar sounds with basses tuned down so low that only dogs can hear and drums that sound like cannons? if so check into The Blue Hotel. The Blue Hotel is made up of four 20-somethings (if not younger)whose music is far from heavy or metal. instead teir sound is a mixture of funk, r&b rhythms over acoustic guitar sounds. its kind of dave matthews meet jars of clay kind of sound. there was a band in the late 80's early 90's that attempted the kind of sound acheived by the blue hotel called toad the wet sprocket. however , toad was a little before their time as it was right at the end of the makeup wearing big hair spandex king bands and at the start of the nirvana/alice in chains grunge movement. The Blue Hotel was named after a short story by lead singer and guitarist jon mack's favorite author. Hotel features mack out front with john micheal peck on drums, austin lonacre onguitar and les sellers on bass guitar. Hotel is still working on their first release, but the have a five song EP they are pushing at their live gigs and other funtions. they plan to hit the studio to round out the EP and turn it into a full length CD. their music is easy to listen to and can appeal to a wide range of audiences and musical tastes. my personal favorite track on the EP was a song called Dance. lyrically, it's entertaining and tells a good story. and, the lyrics are pretty deep to come from such young minds. technically the band is tight and the production on the EP works. the is somewhat of an awkward ending to the sencond track "laughing" but other than that, the songs work and have a nice flow to them. the group realy doesnt have and solo type musicians at least non were evidenced ont he EP. but it really doesnt need it. the groupis tight as a unit and one gets the feling from The Blue Hotel that they arent about over processed ego driven musicianship. their focus is on their music as a whole and on the meaning and performance of each song. it makes for a strong Ep and certianly raises curiosity as to what the CD will ultimatly evolve into. for information on The Blue Hotel or to inquire about bookings call Mack at 972.285.7907 or E-mail the group at thebluehotel@hotmail.com also, their music is availible through an mp3 site on the web www.mp3.com/thebluehotel. THE BOTTOM LINE : The Blue Hotel is off to a good start with its EP en route to its september recording session.
