Artist description
We are a 4-piece band based in London, Ontario, Canada. We have a very unique sound due to our DJ, (DJ JR.A), spinning the records and scratching, our drummer, (Deitz-ah), who just might be the master of the double-kicks, and the fabulous string work by the bass player extroidinaire, (Ned), and yours truly on guitar (Jeff). |

Artist History
Once there was a guy named Ned. He liked to play bass. Then there was a guy named Brian. He liked to play drums. Then there was a guy named Jeff. He liked to play guitar. Then, finally, there was a guy named Josh. He liked to play darts. But then Jeff, Brian, and Ned made him learn how to play turntables instead of boring old darts. But Josh loved the darts dearly. Jeff, Brian, and Ned were angry. They could not figure out how to make Josh play turntables. So, one day Jeff threw out Josh's darts. The rest is music history. |

Ned Currie - Bass & VocalsIt was a dark and stormy night. The wind was like a rhinocerous, each flash of lightning lasted anhour, and in the hut were Ned was to be born in, Ned was born! Horrors! A terrible new hybred of raveging mutant and Destructo-bot*, Ned wasted no time in displaying his powers in a youthful rampage that leveled five city blocks, injured 12 and drained the lake. High radiation levels still prevent the return of most inhabitants. It is interesting to note that Ned was the firts mutant/destructo-bot* to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a bicycle. * Destructo-bot is a registered trade mark of the Mechanoplode Corp and may only be reproduced by the Mechanoplode Corporation or it's offspring. Jeff Shaughnessy - Guitar & VocalsComing from the ghetto, Jeff Shaughnessy has a real appreciation for the "good life". Having to grow up in a 3 bedroom house with 21 brothers and sisters took its tool on Jeff in his youth, but he managed to survive emotionally by playing his guitar. Even though it only had 1 string, Jeff could play every Sharon, Lois, and Bram song known to man. He now plays real guitars. With 6 strings. He also gives "props" to his "homey's" from "L-Town". Josh Ament - Turn-Tables & VocalsBorn and raised in a small town an hour north of London, Josh Ament (aka Jr.A) has been researching and discovering different sounds on vinyl for nearly 10 years. JrA took an early liking towards hip hop as the majority of the music which was embedded in the songs where recycled hits which he was brought up listening to. The fact that music played on vinyl quite often was old and had that ‘dirty’ sound (which came from the large number of scratches in the record) appealed to JrA for reasons which cannot be described. This early love for Hip Hop persuaded him to buy his first DJ mixing board, paid for from his first job working as a dishwasher. Using his father’s record player, he began teaching himself the art of mixing music, as well as the ability to control the sounds, which the turntable could make. Throughout high school and college, JrA has been making beats, working with various bands and gathering enough material to produce a solo project - however, with so many other interests, this proved nearly impossible to accomplish. THANK GOD FOR CODE BROWN! Between everything else, JrA might have left creating music forever - instead, he has been put in the position where he is forced to bring the turntable into a different music genre and create an actual instrument from it. Not using it in the traditional sense - taking samples and just repeating them over the live music, but actually taking samples and changing their sounds using personal and traditional turntabling techniques to fit various songs. ‘Broken Teeth’ and ‘What’cha Think About That’ are two examples of this.JrA has many different music preferences, the obvious two being Hip Hop and 70’s funk. However, if it’s good, he’ll listen to it - you might hear the likes of Johnny Horton, Bjork, Mathew Sweet, Liz Phair, Chuck Berry, or Credence Clearwater Revival being played often on his tables.Anyway, enough with the serious stuff - listen to the record!!Brian Dietz - Drums & PennyWhistleBorn in a Guatemalan Jungle somewhere in Guatamala, Brian Deitz grew up beating everything that moved with heavy wooden clubs. As he got older he began to stop hitting everything and just some things. After that he hit skins mounted on wooden cylinders called drums. Instead of using sticks he used chainsaws. That pretty much brings us up to speed. |
