Press Reviews
“atoosa has a pure, beautiful voice and some very strong melodies that come to light on this album. Her mostly acoustic music is simple, but has plenty of hidden depth if you listen carefully . . .This is a good album to listen to while wearing headphones, and to fully be immersed in it is to be able to shut out the world for a while. I can’t wait to hear what she does next.”
Anna Maria Stjarnell, collectedsounds.com, October 2001
"First off, this record (Sound Travels Up) sounds wonderful. The arrangements are really well thought out and there’s always something coming into the mix that adds to the sonic landscape, whether it’s the Christmas bells in “Fire” or the cello-djembe combination on the George Harrisony “Miranda” . . . And it’s nice to hear atoosa’s voice mixed high enough that you can hear her geisha-sweet inflections and halting self-examinations . . . "
Anti-Matters, February 2001
"atoosa is our guide to a warm world, which is presented to us with insight and descriptive talents, showing most clearly in her rich and vivid imagery. That's indeed one of the most intriguing aspects of her songwriting: the skillful use of metaphors and images to lead us into her reflections about emotions and relationships . . . "
