Artist description
Yogi is a solo artist based in the Seattle area. He's been a musician for 15 years, playing in lots of rock bands before deciding to go solo. Yogi writes catchy n' quirky tunes, that veer stylistically from heavy rock to ambient creepiness to the good 'ol acoustic ballad thang! Yogi's lyrics tend to be personal, with a layer of abstractness and whimsy to keep folks from reading any meanings too closely. Lots of attention is devoted to vocal arrangements and harmonies, and while there is certainly a lot going on musically, Yogi manages to keep his material from being just "musician's music". Yogi's first solo release, "Any Raw Flesh?" is being released on the indie label Wonky Records on March 13, 2001. |

Artist History
There is no band, per se, for the newest Yogi release. Playing the drums on "Any Raw Flesh?" is Chris Gorczyca ("Chris G"), an old friend of Yogi's who plays a lot of sessions in the Seattle area. On bass is Bryan Beller, who is the bassist for Mike Keneally and Beer For Dolphins, and has played on material for Steve Vai. Yogi plays guitar, keyboards, and handles all vocals. |
