Artist History
Jim, Greg, and Mike first performed together on a small club tour in 1998 when they were part of the backing band for legendary bluesman and recording artist Robert Ward. When the tour finished, all three agreed that they played together too well to just go their separate ways. They then quickly went their separate ways. Some months later, Jim found himself working on a batch of original songs with singer, songwriter, harmonica player, Prentice Danzy. When the two of them discussed forming a band to play this music live, Jim immediately called Greg and Mike.Keyboardist Willie Phipps had worked with both Jim and Greg on a number of different gigs in a number of different bands. With his arrival, Three City Five was born, and has been knocking 'em dead in regional clubs ever since.Three City Five recorded their first CD "The Blues Just Walked In Here" in April of 2000.In the summer of 2000 the band backed up Robert Ward on a second small tour that culminated in an appearance as one of the national acts at the Kalamazoo Blues Festival. |
