Artist History
Immersed in music from the age of 3, Aaron Funk, genesis of SPECTRE VII, immerses the listener in his emotional, percussion-oriented, hypnotic music. SPECTRE VII has a style in search of a popular moniker, much like trendsetters The Orb and BT. If categorized, the music of SPECTRE VII falls into a leading-edge evolution of trance and electronic music, pushing the frontiers to the more eclectic.
As a very young child, Aaron began to play the violin and piano, eventually honing his skills to a high level of technical proficiency with classical repertoire. His piano studies extended from the Baroque through the late Classical period, and his violin studies led him to the viola where, for a time, he served as principal viola with the Marin Youth Symphony. Impatient with merely
performing the music of other composers, he began to compose his own and today, at 26 years of age, has evolved compositionally to reflect the years of diverse influence in his music.

Press Reviews
"...I have since become enlightened to one of the most creative purveyors of mind music that is around today'.... ‘Spectre VII has taken this art form one or two steps further. I loved his last album EQUIPOISE, but this one is in my opinion about twice as good. Full of dreamy soundscapes which take you on a journey through time and space, filling the mind with images and the soul with perspective.'.... ‘ I highly recommend this CD for fans of electronic music, sci-fi buffs, and progressive music lovers who find it hard to get their fix of that which they love."
Says reviewer Bob Cooper of Portland Online Music Net
"...'Equipoise' could easily turn any techno dance club inside out. On the other hand, lying on the couch with headphones and losing yourself in the hypnotic beats is preferable." Curtis Waterbury's review of Spectre VII's 1999 release, Equipoise, for Portland Citysearch |
