Artist description
Empress in Thorns are a melodic and atmospheric, yet vibrantly crunching heavy act. The band evoke the full gamut of human emotion whilst suspended in a kaleidoscope of energy and aggression. Lyrically the band is inspired by mythology and a dark concord with the earth, hence granting Empress in Thorns' a certain mystique or gothic resonance. This is complemented with a spattering of symphonic keyboards and a harsh gutteral vocal deliverence. |

Press Reviews
"...Melodic & agressive death metal, exactly the way death metal should sound. The most important thing: the diversity of songs. There is no monotony... one of the best death metal bands from Australia...."
- Florin Trocan [Nocturn Metal].
"This is unquestionably a death metal path that Bellingen's Empress in Thorns is travelling now, tempered with that Scandinavian aspect where speed, thunder and melody all combine. "Myopia" is a strong successor to the previous issue, it's a great indication that good metal talent also exists outside our country's capital cities..."
- Brian Giffin [LOUD!]
