Artist description
Broken Circles are a unique, entertaining band situated in the South East of England. Mixing numerous styles and influences of music into a lively and varied show case, they can never fail to entertain. During a relatively short period of time, they have gathered together a strong following within their local area, always packing the venues to capacity. With a four track CD already recorded, and a completed album recently released, they certainly have the potential for becoming even greater than they already are. Listen to the music and make your own mind up! |

Artist History
Broken Circles formed in November 1998 after the separation of Richard's previous band, Speakeasy. At the same time, Nick and Neil had been playing in an instrumental band under the original name Piemen from Pluto. Having known Nick and Neil for a number of years, Richard asked them to join in a new band. Initially, Nick and Richard attempted to reform Speakeasy, but finally decided against it at the end of November. Impressed with the speed at which Nick picked up the songs on lead guitar, Richard asked him and Neil to join him in a new band. Although they were becoming a very tight and professional band, their music still lacked the depth that would come from a second guitar. At this point, Richard was swapping roles between second guitar and bass for many of the songs, and so losing certain qualities that would improve the overall sound of the group. Auditions for a new bass player occured soon afterwards. After the auditioning of a few bassists, including a former Speakeasy member, Phil was recruited into the band. Also from a recently broken up band named Ram-Baby, Phil brought a new quality to the sound of the music. From this point on, the band was named Broken Circles in reference to the unification of three previous bands. Within three months of Phil joining the band, they played their first gig at a local pub. A surprisingly large crowd of freinds, family and locals turned up, and the gig was a considerable success. Since then, Broken Circles have played more and more venues in the local area, and have grown to become a more professional and close-knit group. The addition of a keyboard player, Ben, in November 1999 has proven that the band can only continue to grow and develop musically for many years to come. |
