Artist History
I started my musical career on November 23, 1980 and have matured into a phenomenal one-man band. With an early start in piano playing(with my feet) I soon experimented with other instruments; the viola and french horn. I grew tired of these instruments and of playing(I moved to California). I took a three year sabbatical from music to explore what I really wanted to do. Itching to return to the music scene, I picked up the Euphonium. An amazing instrument that takes one's breath away. After sufficiently mastering the Euphonium, I took on another challenge: the Tuba. Much like the Euphonium, the register is only an octave below, the Tuba, however, possed an unforseen threat to me. Not only does it take lots of air to produce a note out of the enormous tuba, but one must also spend an entire performance reading ledger lines! But, without skipping a beat, I took on the challenge and have performed admirably. At the same time that the Terrible Tuba episode was happening, I decided to take formal training in music. Learing basic theory and some higher levels of theory, I grew and expanded my musical repetoire. Turning the other cheek to performance, I decided to persue a career in composition. Applying to the University of Virginia (yes, I know it's not known for its music department, but I've met the love of my life at UVa) and majoring in music I was on my way to greatness. The only thing slowing me down from conquering the music scene is the course selection at The University. |
