    Artist description
Hi there! So, what the hell is ThyCo? + Tom: (laugh) We are ThyCo, thats Marc and me, no one more! + Marc: Well, years ago I met Tom, and we decided to work together, to make some music. And after a while we thought it will be better to have a name just like other bands. + So you're a band? + Marc: Not yet. We call it a project, because we both are the main musicians and producers, we make all alone. But we have friends which will help us in some parts, for example in several songs Mack plays the bass, and Martina wrote many of the lyrics. And for live gigs we'll have no problem to get some friends together. But, in fact, Tom is right, we both are ThyCo. + Tom: After spending years in dark, smokey and disgusting practice rooms, always handling the problem of band spliting and endless discussions, our idea is now to work seriously on the main thing: the music. But anyway, we invite everyone to join us in this idea. + This sounds like a long term experience of making music? + Tom: Thats right - I played in a band for more than two years - and close to a gig we split because of some relationship problems between the female bass player and the drummer, and the guitar player who loves the bass player... well, boring story. After that I changed my music style and I had a project together with a girl, a kind of triphop music. Then I played together with Marc in a band called cayzoma. + Marc: I've also played in differend bands for years. Bands like Cold Color or 59 Minutes with lots of gigs here in the local scene of Berlin. + And you both have met during a concert? + Tom: Oh, no. I sat in a cafe where Marc was discussing his latest CD production with a friend and we came to talk. We talked a lot about making music, playing in a band and so on. So we made an appointment for a session and since this time we work together. + Well, lets talk about the music. What kind of music do you make? + Marc: What a senceless question.... + Tom: Just say simple rock. Or is it pop? I don't know. I take some trendy synthesizer sounds, put it together with groovy drumloops and mix it with some hip samples. After that Marc put some guitar sounds on it and the result sounds like grunge-80'th-wave-britpop. + Which music or bands influence you? + Marc: We both listen to every kind of music, but mainly I like guitar orientated music. I like bands like Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins,Garbage, Bush, a mixture of grunge and brit pop. + Tom: In my youth I listened to punk music, but this time is long ago. Since I play synthesizer I listen to every kind of music, triphop, techno as well. Today I listen very often to the radio, mainly to rock radio, and so I'm inspired by everything which is in the charts. + Well, this give's me the idea for the next question. Which instruments do you play? + Marc: I play all guitars and in some parts the bass. + Tom: I play the synthesizers and the samples. + And who is the singer in the band? + Tom: Most of the songs have been sung by Marc, but for a few songs I was the singer. Normally we both sing, one is singing the leadvocals, the other the backings. + You mentioned you're a project. What does this mean? + Tom: What Marc said. We are two musicians, and we do everything alone in the moment. We work in a studio, and we don't want play live or have some gigs in the moment. + Marc: In the moment our view is to make songs, to publish them in all media we can reach, and to produce our first CD. + Tom: Yeah, and we still looking for a sign up with a record label. If we got a contract, we can focus our view of completing the band and have some gigs. + And how do you work? + Marc: Well, we have a great teamwork. We share everything. If someone has an idea for a song, he will fix this idea and present it to the other. Then the otherone put his stuff to the song and gives it back. In this kind of circle a song will be created. + Tom: But making songs is only the half of the work. The other half of the time we spend on mixing and producing the songs. So every song is produced by yourself? + Marc: Yes, we do our best! + Tom: You can listen to it right here on this page
