Artist History
Diego and Brian were in a band prior to Quick Step Maneuver called Eskimo Thighs. Andrew, Gabe, and Diego were also in a band prior to QSM called Redemption Avenue. The three started playing together in Redemption Avenue with Jerry Santos on guitar and vocals. Redemption Avenue started in September '98 when Jerry and Andrew started playing together. Andrew called on his good friend Gabe to play drums and they played as a three piece for a few months. Right before a show in November '98, Jerry added Diego to the lineup to play second guitar. Redemption Avenue stuck around for a few months but called it quits in March '99. Wanting to keep it going Andrew, Gabe, and Diego added Brian from Eskimo Thighs and Quick Step Maneuver was born. The band got their first break when Act Your Age Records released their 7-inch which was titled "Preface to Insignificance". The four song EP was a blend of east bay pop punk in the vein of J Church and Zoinks. In order to promote their latest accomplishment, the boys set out on the road with Houston's Dig Dug for a brief Midwest tour. Upon returning home, QSM played shows with bands such as Discount, Nuzzle, Milemarker, Error Type 11, Traindodge, and The Anniversary. Satisfied with Quick Step Maneuver's growing popularity in the local scene, and their dedication to touring and promotion, Act Your Age Records decided to put out their CD "Putting the Pop in Unpopular". The natural evolution of the band as musicians led them to an extremely original indie power pop sound. Recorded at Affordable sound on an extremely tight budget, the CD came out well. The following tour was extremely successful, playing with such high caliber bands such as Murder City Devils, RX Bandits, The Impossibles, Unified Theory, The Honor System, The Catheters, Slow Gherkin, and Allister. 3 weeks and 3 starters later, the Quick Step Crew came home frustrated and extremely content. After winning a lawsuit from a mechanic in Colorado, the band was reassured that the van would be in great condition for future tours. Presently the band has relocated to Austin TX, working on booking 3 tours. Thomas Lombardi is the newest member of the band. Filling all of the gaps on keyboard has added a completely new dimension to the band. The progression from September 99 to the present day is incredible. Look for Quick Step in your town cause they plan to tear up the nation soon. |
