Artist History
Author of such hits as "Nobody’s Girl" (Bonnie Raitt) and "The Motown Song" (Rod Stewart), (also Aaron Neville, Joe Cocker, Chaka Khan, Mavis Staples, Jennifer Warnes, Betty Wright & many more) this album combines new songs & his critically praised work with singer/guitarist Leni Stern.Known mainly for his achievements as a songwriter, Loose Ends establishes Larry John as a first rate performer as well. Tunes such as "Gypsy Cab", "Black Guitar" and "I’ll See You There" feature his strong guitar playing. While tracks like "Katies Mood", "In My Indiscretion" and "So Good To You" focus more on his soulful voice and powerful lyrics. Born in Bangor, Maine this small town boy quickly took to music. He started his first band "The Dirty Shames" at the young age of 13 and became a fixture on the local New England club scene. Later upon moving to New Orleans (and engulfing himself in the local music) he hooked up with Aaron Neville, simply by knocking on his front door. They became fast friends and Neville recorded Larry John’s first hit "Struttin’ On Sunday". Larry John moved to Los Angeles and released 2 critically acclaimed records on the Columbia and Atlantic record labels. All the while Larry John continued churning out hits. However, he says that he didn’t find his true voice until he moved to New York and released his first self-produced CD, Vibrolux. Loose Ends follows in the tradition of that release. Recently, Larry has been touring with "The Independence Project" a five artist collective, led by singer Rebecca Martin, that has been called "the Lollapalooza of folk." (http://independenceproject.com /ind.htm). The project has been wowing audiences around the country and is still touring. They have been featured in major media including Billboard & Performing Songwriter Magazines. Larry John currently divides his time between New York & Los Angeles. He is still writing and co-writing with some of the biggest names in rock n’ roll as well as with "jazz-folk" artist Leni Stern. The national release of Loose Ends will establish Larry John McNally as one of the major performing singer-songwriters of the next century. |
