Artist History Harold Day, born in San Francisco, has been performing music in the Bay Area for over 20 years. He has performed in concerts on the same bill as the Ohio Players, Confunksion and Run DMC, as well as sharing the stage with Howard Hewitt (Shalamar) and many other popular and reputable artists. He has played the Top 40 nightclub circuit, the corporate circuit, the original nightclub circuit with local bands, Finishing Touch, Cold Steel, Brothers Owens, as well as being founder of Whiplash, Attraction, M.O.S. Band, and currently Masterpiece. Harold is very grateful for being able to earn a decent living playing music, but feels it's time to take it to another level. He performed with his own band called "Harold Day and the Knights", on the original circuit, but did not have a release out until now. Though he has accumulated a large library of original compositions throughout the years, this will be his first outing. Harold grew up in an era where there were an endless variety of influences, with bands such as Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, and the list goes on. Being from that era, he enjoys playing, rock, R&B, funk, jazz, latin, blues, and reggae. In being so versatile, Harold's audiences range from all different ages and styles of music. He feels it's a good time for his music to come out, because of Carlos Santana's recent success; a guitar player winning 8 Grammy awards. He feels that if Jimi Hendrix was still around, he would have the same kind of success as Santana. There needs to another act out like Hendrix. That's when rock 'n roll was exciting. He would like to be one of the artists to continue where Hendrix left off. He doesn't want to try to be another, Jimi Hendrix, he just wants to bring that kind of excitement back to music fans. It used to be cool to play guitar. Some day it will come back to that. His music is full of messages, about situations in life, about love, and wanting to bring a little humor to people's lives. The song "You Make It Hard For Me," could send mixed messages. If you have a nasty mind, you could take it as a nasty song. It's actually saying, you make it difficult for me. It's about a guy who is attracted to a girl who he is friends with. She is so appealing to him, that it's hard for him to not want to cross that line of friendship and lovers. This is a Prince kind of groove. The song "No Rules," is a humorous look at a person's 9 to 5 life. It let's people realize that working is just part of life, but you must balance it off with play also. It makes the everyday grind, not so bad. If Harold had it his way, everyone would be listening to "No Rules" on the way to work. If you like listening to guitar improvisation with high intensity and a lot of feeling, this is a must for your collection.
