Press Reviews
Reviewer: Hype Illin
These radio-friendly, deep, talented rappers from The Bronx, Aftalife, start off their album "Spoken Wordz" with a tight track, "Come Back," with the catchy hook, and nice punch lines creating a stable backbone for the song in the verses.. "money never changed this man, it made me wiser.." a dope beat holds together a strong yet short & to the point 2:40 intro. Then the LP really gets into gear, with songs like "Show Stoppa," "Watcha Want" & "Code of Honor" all featuring dope beats.. and lyricism on the same level as Tupac with punch lines that will stick in the back of your head for the rest of the day. But the 3rd track, "Can I Rock" is one of the best tracks to come across the underground, amazing beat, and the lyrics fit the mould of the instrumental perfectly, I could hear this on the radio any time.. all the rappers come correct and keep things on a real level. Just when you think the album is taking a break, "I seen a Vision" drops and immediatly things are right back on pace, with a tight instrumental and impressive lyrics. Then Remember, a very emotional track drops, and fills your speakers with emotion with nice singing intro and hearfelt rap. The album finishes up strong with songs "Lost World" and "Real Funky" keepin things real & in check. Overall, the album features 11 tracks, and none of them are sleepers, each deserves a full play in your system. With songs like "Can I Rock" and "Code of Honor," this is not an album worth passing by. "Spoken Wordz" get's a solid...8.5 if you enjoy Tupac, you will enjoy listening to AftaLife. |
