Artist History
I have been writing and recording for 15 years. I have had songs published and have performed solo and with a band since 1985. Though my musical 'career' is basically a hobby I've kept fresh and productive over the years. I am doing my best work at an age where my rock peers are performing their hits from the '70s. I built a studio in a home we moved to about 2 years ago and am kickin' it out with wild abandon! I started writing songs when I first began to play piano. I couldn't figure out songs by ear well so I'd make up things to play. Someone would hear one of my original tunes and ask, "What song is that? It sounds good." I'd say, "It's just something I made up." They'd say, "You should finish it." And off I went. I had a friend who did a couple of albums for RCA in the '70s and he recorded demos on a four-track in his mother's house. It looked easy enough so I borrowed some money and bought a similar set up. The first few tapes stunk so I bought books, asked questions at music stores, developed "gear aquisition syndrom" and wrote more songs. It became a passion and it still drives me years later. I tried to sell songs as a songwriter but found that as soon as this got to be a business it stopped being fun. As a job, music sucks.I became discouraged and quit music for a while. Then I picked up my guitar, started noodling around and came up with more tunes. MP3.com gave me a way to get my music to people and I don't mind giving it away. Enjoy! |
